Meet Ms. Maria. She is single, never had a husband or children. She devoted her whole life to work and to her mother, who has been seriously ill all these years. She is very devoted and loving, because by sacrificing her happiness, she gave warmth, care, love and her time to her mother, who buried 7 children during her lifetime. Ms. Maria was everything to her mother, so she did not leave her for a single step. Life was not easy, there was no big income, the family survived thanks to agriculture, which was looked after by the woman. And so the years passed…
Now Ms. Maria is 76 years old, she survives on a meager pension in a small house that needs major repairs and every year her life becomes harder and harder. An old, not needed by anyone in the village woman alone with her sorrow and needs. Had she ever thought of such retirement?!
We can’t take back the past, but Blue Sky Ukraine with your support can change the present and the future… at least with the bare essentials… medicine, food and a kind word. Let’s together give faith in life and confidence in tomorrow to lonely people.
Natalya Ivanivna
Natalya Ivanivna is 62 years old and has worked as a nanny in a kindergarten all her working life. Having experienced a loss of her daughter at first and then serious illness of her son who has the 2nd group of disabilities, the woman suffered a bitter loss again – her husband passed away.
All of this greatly affected the woman, her state of health, now she has the 3rd group of disabilities. Living conditions are terrible. Together with her son, she lives in an emergency building , which was used as a barrack for poor people. The lack of normal living conditions makes the life of a sick mother with a sick son very difficult. Her small pension, and her son’s disability pension, are very small and not enough for decent life, especially in wartime in the country.
This family has a constant need for medicine, ordinary food, hygiene products, and housing heating, for which there is a catastrophic lack of funds. Fortunately, it is now warm and the woman has one less problem, so for now Blue Sky Ukraine will help with basic, but vital needs, such as food, hygiene, and of course medicine.
Olga Petrivna
Today we would like to share a story about Olga Petrivna, a 80-year-old woman who lives alone in a one bedroom apartment.
Her fate has not been easy: she lost her husband and her only son when he was still small. Olga Petrivna was worked as a nurse in a village pharmacy for many years. She made every effort to survive, because she had no one to rely on. And even though life imposed big challenges on her, she never lost hope for the best.
We invite each of you to help Olga Petrivna. Even a small contribution can make a big difference in this woman’s life.
Halyna Tarasyvna
Another difficult, lonely life of an 81-year-old woman, Mrs. Halyna Tarasivna. Life turned out in such a way that her husband died a long time ago, they had no children and she lives alone on her small pension, which does not allow a woman to feel protected. The constant lack of funds requires her to give up many things that are common to other people – treatment, food, hygiene, paying utility bills, and not to mention for her health to get better.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds of thousands of people who need the simplest things and have no one to help them.
And that is why we work hard to make the life of lonely elderly people a little easier and to give them confidence in tomorrow, where there will be no fear of living it without a loaf of bread.
Nastya and Albina
Meet Nastya – 14 years old, and Albina – 8 years old. The girls lost their father in the war several years ago, and recently their mother died.
Fortunately, the grandmother takes care of the sisters, but in addition to the granddaughters she also takes care of her disabled daughter, Svetlana, 36 years old, who suffers from epilepsy.
When we asked about the needs of the family, the grandmother burst into tears, the only thing she could say was: the girls’ father and mother cannot be returned. Later we found out that the family lives on the pension funds of the daughter and grandmother, as well as some other social benefits, which are barely enough for the basic needs of food, medicine and paying for utilities.
Recently the girls had a birthday, they dreamed of going on trampolines. Their mom, before her death, promised to fulfill their wish, but she passed away before she could do that.
It is hard to believe that children nowadays can dream of such simple and completely accessible things – to jump on trampolines with their mother… but unfortunately, this dream became unattainable for the children, because due to lack of funds, their mother couldn’t fulfill her daughters’ wishes.
Blue Sky Ukraine wanted to give such a gift to these children, but Albina fell and broke her leg. So we fulfilled other small wishes of the girls. Eventually, we will definitely return to this dream and make it true..
These girls have lost the most valuable in their lives – their father and mother, and they will never have that happy childhood with their parents by their side, but we will definitely fulfill their little dreams, to at least fill their childhood with smiles and positive emotions, despite the bitter loss of their closest relatives and difficult war times.
Anastasia
Anastasia needs our help.
It so happened that at the age of two she fell ill with bilateral pneumonia with severe complications from strong drug exposure.
This caused a delay in mental activity and speech. As a result, symptoms characteristic of autism began to appear.
From the age of four, doctors recognized Anastasia as a child with disabilities and prescribed rehabilitation programs.
The family barely has enough funds for the minimum necessary standard of living. And there is no question at all about classes with specialists and the purchase of the necessary medicines for the girl.
Fortunately, Nastya is helped by relatives – grandparents, who pay for classes with a speech therapist, psychologist, osteopath, and others, but unfortunately, there are still not enough funds for necessary medicines and vitamins. Therefore, Blue Sky Ukraine takes this girl under its care and will help with the required medicines every month.
Denis and his family
Young Denis and his family need help.
We met Denis a few weeks ago. During the meeting, we immediately noticed his unnaturally mature look and ability to talk about very serious topics such as war, lack of money, diseases, etc. at the age of 8
Little Denis lives in a big friendly family – mom, dad, two brothers and a sister. There is love and a cozy atmosphere. But despite the wonderful relationship, this family is currently in a difficult life situation. Dad needs several surgeries on his legs – due to varicose veins and a fracture, it is difficult for him to walk, and one limb does not function properly. Also, an MRI of the back is urgently needed to establish an accurate diagnosis and start treatment on time. But even despite the health problems, the man works hard for his family – he works physically and tries to provide for his family.
The older brother is 10 and has a speech impediment. The little 6-year-old sister has serious problems with her teeth – the little one constantly cries because of pain. And Denis himself admitted that his vision is rapidly declining – now both eyes see no more than 30%. Oksana’s mother is currently on maternity leave and barely has time to take care of her family.
Despite the efforts of mom and dad, this family is in dire need of financial assistance to buy the necessary medicines and conduct diagnostic tests. Little Denis loves his family very much and believes that everything will be as good as possible, he just has to live through difficult times…
Sofiya and her family
How to raise a daughter and a son with disabilities during the war without work?
This is not another shocking article from the media. This is a true story of a real Ukrainian family on the verge of surviving a full-scale russian invasion.
Sofiya and her family are currently in a very difficult situation – the woman lost her job due to the war. At the ame time she raises a 12-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son who has an organic lesion of the central nervous system. The boy needs treatment with expensive drugs and complex rehabilitation. Unfortunately, social payments are barely enough for a minimum grocery basket and utilities payments, and not to mention new clothes and medicine at all.
Can a mother cope with the difficulties that arise in life, and single-handedly provide the children with everything they need?! This is a rhetorical question, because everyone knows how difficult it is for single mothers, especially now, in times of the war.
Knowing how difficult it is for this family – a mother without a husband and a child with special needs, and children without a father, Blue Sky Ukraine takes this family under its care and will provide needed assistance.
Tatiana and her family
Recently, Blue Sky Ukraine visited a family with a difficult fate. The family has seven children. Mother Tatiana gave birth to her last daughter recently, and due to a difficult delivery, the little one has health problems. A special expensive food mixture is needed every day. It’s not easy for the eldest daughter either – she has a disability and needs regular rehabilitation and medication. And little 5-year-old Lera still does not speak and has a pathology of the auricle. Recently, the pediatrician reported that the girl will also be diagnosed with disability and expensive treatment will be prescribed. The family also has a bedridden sick grandmother to take care for, who needs adult diapers and medicine.
It is very difficult for them now. After all, a family of 10 people lives in a cramped two bedroom apartment. There is a constant lack of funds, because the father lost his job at the beginning of the war, and the mother is unable to go to work, because the children are constantly sick and need their mother.
They are desperate and desperately asking for help.
Blue Sky Ukraine takes this family under its care and will help. This month the fund paid the water debt and provided a grocery basket!
We appeal to all caring people to join us and help this family, because without us it is very difficult for them.
Irina and her family
This large family has gone through incredible trials and difficulties since the full-scale russian war. Thanks to the kindness of volunteers, they managed to escape from horrifying hell that happened in their city and try to start a new life.
In her embrace, there are four wonderful children: Kyrylko, 16 years old, who has cerebral palsy; Ilya, 12 years old; David, 7 years old; and Oleksandra, 1 year old.
The family’s life is a challenging journey, especially since they find themselves in new conditions, far from their hometown and without the support of a brave shoulder – a father for the children and a husband for the woman.
The mother and children live in a rented house, and all the money they receive from the government goes towards paying for it. Every day, Irina struggles to afford utilities and provide her children with food, hygiene products, diapers, and formula for the youngest doughter.
Despite the difficulty of their circumstances, the family finds joy in life and believes in a better future, but they need our help.

Mrs. Halyna
This is Mrs. Halyna, she is 69 years old. That’s how a tired and destitute face looks like. After all, Halyna had a very difficult past and an equally difficult present.
This woman lost her beloved husband who was suffering from blood cancer. He was only 44 years old. 19 years ago, she buried her daughter, who had just given birth to her third child. And it seemed that fate should stop tormenting Halyna. But no. 7 years ago, her son-in-law passed away, who was the support and help of the old woman. And 3 years ago she also lost her son.
Currently, Mrs. Halyna takes care of her grandchildren – two boys. She cooks breakfasts, lunches and dinners, washes clothes by hand, heals, but, unfortunately, there is very little gratitude from her grandchildren – housekeeping, earning money and absolutely all household chores are left to Halyna. Unfortunately, a small pension, which is barely enough for a minimum grocery basket, and aggravated chronic diseases do not allow to do it properly. So when the old woman received a set of products and the necessary medicines from us, she cried.
Blue Sky Ukraine takes this woman under it’s care. We want to make life a little easier for a woman who has experienced so much grief and suffering in her life! Unfortunately, we cannot erase the past and bring back her loved ones, but we can help with medicine, food and hygiene, and soon we plan to do a separate fundraiser for Mrs. Halyna, because she dreams of a washing machine, and we want to make this dream come true.
Mr. Danylo
“We will be grateful for at least some bread”
That’s what Mr. Danylo said during a phone conversation when confirming the date and time of our arrival. So we took a large grocery set and llwent to him. And already during the visit it turned out that Mr. Danylo and his family need much more serious help.
Mr. Danylo is a friendly and opened man. However, behind the smile are years of battling diabetes without enough critically needed medication. Because, as it turned out, the man has not been receiving free insulin for a long time. Although according to the law, in the case of an illness such as Mr. Danyla’s, such drugs should be issued free of charge! Since 1-2 packs of insulin cost almost half a pension, Mr. Danylo has a choice every time: medicine for himself or food for his family. So Blue Sky Ukraine couldn’t just leave and we decided to give additional money for the insulin. At that moment he couldn’t hold his tears and then just had a big smile.
We are so happy that thanks to everyone who donates money we can make people smile and happy again.
Ms. Irina
This is Irina, she is 86, and she miraculously survived during the occupation of their village by the Germans. When we listened to Ms. Irina’s story, we could barely hide our tears. Because it is simply impossible to calmly listen to what this woman went through and hardships she has to live in now. Ms. Iryna had a difficult childhood and life in general. The war caught her when she was still a child. Her village was occupied and 366 people were shot – all neighbors, except for a few families. Thank God, Iryna’s family survived.
Now Iryna is left all alone. She lives on the 5th floor, goes down only when necessary, because the blood pressure mostly rises to a critical limit even when she gets out of a bed, and pain in the kidneys does not allow to move normally. These are the consequences of the covid, during the treatment of which the woman spent several months in the hospital. It is very difficult for Iryna to be alone, but she is not used to complaining about life and asking for help. The medicine a woman needs costs almost 80% of her pension. And there is no way for a woman to get additional funds.
